Two million copies sold: what the WARDOGS launch actually means for your deployments
Four days after release Bulkhead reported two million copies sold. The confirmed timeline and what the numbers mean for queues, servers and the economy.
Updated:
On 15 September Bulkhead reported two million copies sold, four days after launch. That is a studio milestone, not a game mechanic. It still matters in practice, because nearly every bit of friction from the past two weeks, from login queues to full servers, follows directly from that scale. Here is the confirmed picture. As of 23 September 2026.
The confirmed timeline
Every point below comes from official Steam announcements by the studio.
- 11 August: pre-orders open.
- 14 August: one million wishlists on Steam.
- 20 and 24 August: closed beta schedule and recap.
- 1 September: second closed beta.
- 5 September: the closed beta becomes an open beta.
- 9 September: pre-load and the Season 1 changelog.
- 10 September: launch trailer and Launch Stability Hotfix 1.
- 11 September: 1.25 million copies sold.
- 12 September: 400,000 peak concurrent users, named in the patch 0.11 announcement.
- 15 September: two million copies sold.
Four days separate 1.25 million from 2 million. The curve is not just high, it is steep.
What it means for queues and servers
Three things follow from the studio's own statements.
- Login queues and unexpected disconnections were explicitly the subject of the first stability hotfix on 10 September. If you still hit them, our troubleshooting article on login and queue errors collects the working steps.
- Server capacity in Asia was increased with patch 0.11 because the studio saw particular demand there.
- Community servers were improved in the same patch, including text search and persistent server IDs. At this player count a known community server is often the more reliable route than the official browser.
What the numbers do not say
Copies sold are not concurrent players, and they say nothing about load in your region at your play time. Beyond the 400,000 peak the studio has published no ongoing player figures. We do not extrapolate from these numbers, and we do not derive price or exchange rate predictions from them.
This matters most for money. The WARDOGS economy is shared, something the studio stresses itself when explaining its stance on exploits. A growing player base can shift supply and demand, but that link is not documented and we are not claiming it. If you plan around gold, use the current rate in the Fieldkit rather than an expectation built on sales figures.
What is worth doing now
- Pick your community servers and note the new persistent server ID. It now survives map changes and restarts.
- Plan loadouts before peak hours rather than in the queue. The loadout builder and money calculator work independently of the game.
- Keep an eye on announcements: Season 02 is confirmed for 15 October. What arrives then will shape your purchases far more than any sales figure.
