In the first episode of its new podcast "The Hot Zone", BULKHEAD talked about the rocky start of Season 2 and outlined plans for Season 3. PCGamesN reported on it on 25 October 2026. The podcast featured Joe Brammer, Lead Game Designer Pete Harries, Creative Director Tim Nightingale and Technical Designer Mark Tadros. We summarise what was said and flag what is not yet official. As of 26 October 2026.

Season 3: 12 November as the target

According to PCGamesN, the team is currently targeting Thursday, 12 November 2026. Community reports say a developer already named the date in a Steam reply on 23 October. In the podcast, the team said Season 2 would run four to five weeks, which fits that date. As of this article, there was no official Steam announcement or post on the WARDOGS account with the date. Treat 12 November as a target, not a fixed date.

Economy reset and less steep progression

Season 3 is set to begin with an economy reset. The team admits that faster progression in Season 2 made the reset practically pointless. Brammer called it a huge mistake and said too much content was added at the expense of the fundamentals. Going forward, the team wants to move away from the heavily vertical progression of Season 1. The new XP curve was not described. Our season reset guide explains what carried over at the last season change.

Seasons of about three months

Monthly seasons are not sustainable, Brammer said. The plan is for refreshes roughly every three months with a smaller update at the halfway point. No exact length for Season 3 has been published.

Limited Mode servers with Season 3

According to PCGamesN, the announced Limited or Primitive servers are to arrive with Season 3 and recreate the early-to-mid game without power weapons and heavy vehicles. The podcast also said infrared gear will not be available there. The mid-season Update 0.25 had originally been named as the timeframe. Nightingale explained that the team deliberately wanted one unified experience at launch and can offer more variants as the game succeeds. Our guide to the game mode and server types explains how Limited Mode differs from Infantry Mode and Low-Level.

Other open points from the podcast

  • Infrared rangefinders: most of the team would remove or rework them, for example so that trees and bushes block them. This was explicitly an opinion, not a decision.
  • Tanks: the team considers the high share of drivers unsustainable. Unlocking tanks later is one option; nothing has been decided.
  • Havoc: the team is aware that a downed Havoc reappears shortly afterwards. There is no solution yet; fuel was mentioned as a possible lever.
  • New map: a map with a multi-storey hospital and more verticality was mentioned, without a name or date.

As far as we know, there are no new statements about night battles or new weather for Season 3. Our weather guide explains the current state.

What comes next

WARDOGS has announced a vlog for this week reflecting on Season 2 and previewing Season 3. Only an official announcement with a date and patch notes will make the plans binding. We will update this article when it arrives. Earlier course corrections are covered in our news on the Lonestar bonus, Driver XP and Season 3.
