WARDOGS Season 2: wipe, rain and new plans for infantry and jets

Season 2 starts on 15 October: the wipe, rain, recorded role progress and BULKHEAD's latest statements on infantry servers, night battles and jets.

WARDOGS begins Season 2 on 15 October 2026. Alongside the announced rain weather, the next wipe has become a major talking point: how much of the time already invested will matter once the season restarts? New developer statements offer a clearer answer. Infantry servers, night battles and jets also reveal where BULKHEAD wants to take the game. As of 25 September 2026.

The Season 2 wipe and long-term progression

The season change brings a reset. Developer phantasy explains that the first season was deliberately short so the team could make balance changes quickly after launch. He also acknowledges that the communication about planned wipes may not have reached players clearly enough.

That matters especially to people with limited time. Someone who has only just unlocked a favourite weapon or expensive vehicle wants a chance to use it. An early reset shortens that opportunity. In a reply covered by Airwingmarine's weekly roundup, Joe Brammer argues that a reset also brings players back to a more even starting position. Future seasons are intended to last longer, although that does not establish a fixed duration.

The crucial distinction is between seasonal progress and records kept for the long term. Phantasy confirms that statistics and role levels are still being tracked for future meta and skill systems. This does not promise that every current level, unlock and cash balance will remain available unchanged after the season transition. His statement also gives no exact formula for converting those records into future progress.

Persistent progression therefore has a stated foundation, but its implementation remains open. Playing now contributes to the records intended for those later systems. BULKHEAD still needs to explain what benefits they will provide and when players can use them.

Rain is a map weather state

The official WARDOGS account has already clarified one misunderstanding about the weather: rain is an additional weather state for each map. This does not announce showers arriving during an ongoing round or dynamic weather transitions.

The teaser has also prompted discussion about air defence. Airwingmarine identifies a vehicle shown in it as a Gepard. Another mobile anti-aircraft option could make encounters with attack helicopters more interesting. However, that identification does not establish unlock requirements, prices or damage values. Its eventual impact on vehicle balance is also unproven.

More Season 2 information is due before 15 October. The teaser is an initial look at content, rather than a complete list of changes.

Infantry servers need a stronger presence

Joe Brammer has publicly acknowledged that access to infantry servers has fallen short of expectations. The original plan was to leave this offering to community servers. The studio is now seeing too few of them.

The mode aims to remove some of the most powerful vehicles. Its name does not automatically mean that everyone must travel on foot. Airwingmarine describes transport options and lighter armed vehicles remaining available, while tanks and certain attack helicopters are excluded.

Reducing heavy vehicles also changes the relationship with fortified positions. With fewer powerful tools available to attack FOBs, those positions can become harder to counter. This is a player experience described in the video and a plausible balance trade-off, rather than a measured outcome for every match.

Brammer's statement shows that BULKHEAD wants to improve the offering. It does not give a firm launch date for additional official infantry servers.

Night battles point to Season 3; jets have no date

Night battles have a more specific development target: when asked about them by a player, Brammer names Season 3. That is a public developer announcement, but it comes without details on lighting, equipment or the maps involved.

For jets, the focus remains balance. Brammer says they are already flyable, while their integration into the game is still a balancing question. An aircraft working internally does not yet make the whole package ready for release. How jets should interact with the maps, air defences and ground troops remains central to that decision.

His statement gives no date for jets joining Season 2. Night battles and jets should therefore be treated separately from the October additions that have already been detailed.

Two technical issues with different statuses

Away from season planning, an incorrect Steam build went out on 24 September. According to WARDOGS Updates, it affected a small number of players. The account advised affected players stuck in the queue to close the game and download it again, with a download of approximately 16 GB. A follow-up marked the incident as resolved.

The WD-L020 launch error is a separate case. Team17's support post says it is investigating a possible compatibility issue with Windows 11 preview update KB5124010. Support lists removing that update as an optional potential workaround, while generally recommending that Windows stay up to date. Anyone who does not want to roll back should leave the update installed and wait for a solution. Resolving the Steam build incident therefore does not mean this separate error has been fixed.

What still needs explaining before the season starts

The main unanswered questions concern the exact reset process, how recorded progress will count later, and the full scope of Season 2. Our assessment: a fresh start can make room for balance changes. Players also need clear information on which progress is seasonal and which counts in the long term so they can plan their time. That is the standard the next announcements need to meet.
